According to the Ordinance Survey’s ‘Points of Interest’ mapping data, beauty salons have continued to prosper on high streets compared to many other businesses. This survey shows that hair and beauty businesses have increased by 5.9% on high streets since the height of the pandemic.

The figures have been revealed by the BBC, who analysed 1.5 million records contained in the Ordinance Survey. This analysis provides quarterly, comprehensive data of businesses, facilities and services operating in England, Scotland and Wales.

UKHospitality has urged Ofgem to penalise energy suppliers who have carried out bad practices.

The trade association’s plea has been written to tackle behaviour such as high standing charges, inflated deposits and plenty more, wishing to name and shame energy suppliers. Ultimately, the letter urges Ofgem and the Government to punish bad practices and enable struggling hospitality businesses to renegotiate or cancel terms.

“Day after day, we get more reports from businesses with another example of how an energy supplier… won’t even engage on a contract simply because a business works in hospitality,” states Kate Nicholls, UKHospitality chief executive.
