TACKLE THE RECRUITMENT CRISIS
Recruiting and retaining staff has become a large-scale problem for the spa industry.
With many businesses facing a staff shortage to run at full capacity, this has impacted their recovery post lockdown restrictions. Correcting this course will take some time, although there are some areas that can be tackled more immediately.
We have therefore produced ten tips to help rectify the recruitment emergency for the spa and wellbeing industry.
Tackle the staffing crisis with our guide today.
VAT INCREASE TO 12.5%
From 1st October, VAT for supplies to hospitality, hotel accommodations, and admission to certain attractions are set to increase to 12.5%.
This VAT increase follows the previous 5% that was put in place by the Government on 15th July 2020, with the intention to support businesses severely impacted by the pandemic.
The new 12.5% VAT rate will be put in place until 31st March 2022, which will still cover certain supplies such as on-site food, non-alcoholic beverages, and sleeping accommodation amongst others. Once this period is over, the rate will return to the original 20%.

CHANGES TO INSTRAGRAM
Instagram CEO, Adam Mosseri, has announced upcoming changes to the platform. If you own a salon or spa with a trusted Instagram portfolio, it’s important you know how these will impact you!
“Video is driving an immense amount of growth online for all the major platforms right now, and it’s one I think we need to lean into more,” announced Mosseri. That means video is soon going to become big on the platform in order to compete with TikTok and YouTube. So, it’s worth planning for more videos via Stories, Reels and IGTV into your schedule as these will soon be recommended more on clients’ feeds. If you’re in need of inspiration, we have plenty of video ideas to help on our blog, too.
